Text of the Copyright and Related Rights Act, 2000, which took effect on January 1, 2001. Copyright FAQ (Poetry Ireland) Basic FAQ which includes very basic information on reproduction, as well as links and print resources for contacting Irish publishers and licensing agencies. Copyright and Related Rights Bill, 1999 (Library Association of Ireland) This bill resulted from Ireland's obligations to the EU to modernise its laws on copyright. Irish E-Commerce Act 2000 (Dept. of Enterprise, Trade and Employment) Act to provide for the legal recognition of electronic signatures, contracts, and so on. Creative Commons In response to some of the issues raised in this 2003 edition of NOW, Lawrence Lessig suggested a new type of some-rights registration. Creative Commons is non-profit organization publishing works under a voluntary "some rights reserved" copyright, thus making works free for futher creative use. Yahoo has developed a specific search engine to locate these works. This model is also being developed for music. Irish Copyright Licensing Agency (ICLA) Home page of the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency contains links to info on educational and business licences for the use of Irish works. Also contains a link to the newly-established Irish Visual Artists' Rights Organization, and links to many other useful sites in Ireland, the UK and elsewhere. Irish Music Rights Organisation IMRO is the national body which administers the performing rights of copyright music in Ireland. IMRO also sponsors a large number of song contests, music festivals, seminars, workshops, research projects and showcase performances. Irish Writers Union Monitors contracts and royalty payments for members/members' estates, offers member news & special website area, events and FAQ. FAQ basically concern what in the US would be called grievable developments in relations with publishers. Dublin Writers Workshop Dublin's longest running writers' group offers links to online workshops, competitions, and previous issues of The Electric Acorn. Irish Writers' Centre The Irish Writers' Centre was established to foster and assist in the development of contemporary Irish writing. The centre offers readings, events, competitions, and courses, and is beginning to publish in its own right.
